Burgher Burger #9 We Are Not the Establishment

Change of plan for the 3 September. It is going to be a We Are Not the Establishment night and we are launching our Harviestoun Brewery bespoke Burgher Burger Beer - so expect some beer-related fun. The burger meal is umami themed. Burgher Burger resident chefs Steve and Daniela have come up with a seriously burgery burger with a special ingredient to bring out the umami.

Menu

Starter: Miso Broth

Main: Beef burger with mushroom ketchup, slow roasted tomato mayo, parmesan crisp, shoestring fries & aioli

Dessert: Knickerbocker Glory

Four bottles of Harviestoun Beer are included in the ticket price of £35 (incl. fees). Tickets for Burgher Burger #9 will go on sale on our Facebook page on Wednesday 15 August at 8pm.

The reason for our change of chef plans on the 3 September might be something Burgher Burger fans are interested in. We have an unusual plan with this popular, former Burgher Burger chef... not burgers. Hot stuff and beer. And we'll be transforming a white room, with no kitchen, into a amazing dining space using video installations. If you like your spices, if you like beer, you'll like this. 1-3 October. Follow Jelly+Gin Productions for the latest information on #spicebomb.

Burgher Burger #7 The Burger Mat

For our We Are Not The Establishment nights we wanted to do something different with the burger mats. So at Burgher Burger #5 we asked the punters to do some artwork. In amongst the penis drawing (beer+paper+pencil= numerous rude doodles or roodles) and grease splats there were some real gems: Chris Dobson's vector burger and Peter Allison's burger loving dinosaurs. All the artwork was mashed together into one brilliant burger mat by Pixel+Bird (actually I'll get into trouble for being flippant - it was painstakingly worked on not mashed together).

Burgher Burger #8 Brian Canale

For Burgher Burger #8 we are going posh - champagne and burgers. For one night only we’re popping up at a pop-up, The Pommery Bar at the Signet Library where multi-award winning chef Brian Canale is taking up the ultimate burger challenge. Brian is a master of the fine dining experience, serving the great and the good in stately homes, palaces and castles across the country in his role as Heritage Portfolio’s Head Chef. So why does someone who’s spent years honing his craft want to get his hands on the humble burger?

“What I really like about Burgher Burger is the sound of great company, cold beer, or in our case copious quantities of perfectly chilled champagne and terrific food – which focuses on ‘the burger’. Burgers are, I suppose, a kind of comfort food – what could go wrong with a night out focussing on burgers? A great way to relax and escape the busy world that we all seem to live in now”

Brian is a big fan of Heston Blumenthal’s approach to the perfect burger, so we can expect something really special to go with that champagne. He uses fresh, seasonal and local produce at every opportunity. His absolute passion for food regularly takes him far beyond the confines of the kitchen to farmyards, fishing boats, and country kitchens alike.

Burgher Burger #8 takes place in The Pommery Bar at The Signet Library on 21 August at 7.30pm. Read more about The Pommery Bar here.

Menu

Starter: Thai spiced Squat Lobster Bisque with Noodle Dumplings

Main: Buck Deer Burger, sloe gin onions, crispy gem & smoked Applewood with potato & radish bon bons and beetroot slaw

Dessert: Amarena Cherries with Chilli Chocolate Parfait, Toasted Marshmallow & Clotted Cream Iced Truffle

The ticket price for this one off champagne and burger meal is £50 (inc £3.50 booking fee). Ticket price includes a bottle of Pommery POP on arrival and ½ a bottle of Pommery Brut Royal per person. As always, our meat is provided by Puddledub Buffalo.
